I never thought about the difficulty of window replacement on second and third floors. I imagine it does take creativity. I wonder how it’s done on really high buildings? I think having a nice style is nice, and I know my wife would love that, but I also think energy efficiency is what I lean more towards. Luckily, we can get both!

You make a really good point about how a professional has access to a lot more services and materials than you would on your own. In fact, when it comes to getting the right type of glass, I wouldn’t even know where to start! All I know is that there are single-pane and double-pane options, and that’s it.

My mother recently had some windows damaged due to a really awful storm that blew through her area. You mentioned that you should hire a professional because windows are often placed in hard to reach areas and require a bit of creativity to reach them. I wouldn’t want my mother to try and reach her second story windows, and those are the ones that need to be replaced the most.

One of my kids recently threw a toy into our living room window and cracked it, so my wife and I are looking into getting it replaced. I like that you suggest hiring a professional if the window is up high or on the upper floor. We don’t want to risk someone falling and getting injured, so we’ll be sure not to attempt the repair ourselves. Thanks for sharing!

I didn’t know that the professional also has vendor relationships to ensure that he finds the correct type of glass for your window application. My brother has a shop and the glass broke because someone accidentally threw a baseball bat. My dad suggested installing new glass and shared this article with him.

I have to agree with your idea of hiring a professional to replace the window glass if it is located in an area that is pretty hard to reach, like the second story window. If so, then I need to call a professional since the glass is broken on the attic window. That is more than 25 feet off the ground! I cannot afford to fall off a place that high.
